Welcome
The Mission of the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment (IR&A) is to
provide and coordinate information support for planning, administering, and
evaluating academic and administrative programs in ways that will continuously
improve the State University of New York College at Cortland. The operations of
the office can be divided into three overlapping functions;
- providing institutional data to internal and external constituents,
- providing assessment support to academic and support/service units, and
- providing administrative planning and research support.
Description of the Office
The Office of Institutional Research & Assessment is a service-oriented unit
operating within the Academic Affairs division of the College, and reporting to
the Provost. In the most general sense, we have three overlapping
functions-reporting institutional data (both internally and externally),
conducting institutional research/planning studies, and assessment-related
activities. Although one can generally "label" any particular project or task as
belonging to one of these three areas, much of what we do serves to facilitate
all three areas.
